Geraldton Dog Rescue is designed to rescue and rehome suitable dogs from the City of Greater Geraldton dog pound. If dogs haven’t been claimed and they’ve done their pound time, then the rangers will advise us which dogs are available for us to meet and rescue. Geraldton Dog Rescue is foster carer based and doesn’t operate as a shelter. We have limited foster carer availability and the rangers offer dogs to us and other rescue groups. There are dogs that our foster carers are not able to manage and these dogs are offered to rescue groups that have the resources & volunteers to train the dogs, so they’re ready for successful rehoming.

We are grateful to Dogs' Refuge Home WA INC for supporting the City of Greater Geraldton when we are not able to take certain dogs & pups.

Frank is almost 2yrs old, he’s a 29kg American Staffordshire Bull Terrier X and today was get out of the pound day! He was a tad excited when he came to Geraldton Dog Rescue. Frank travels well in the car, sitting up as proud as can be in the centre of the back seat. We’ve moved Frank to a new carer, because he’s not a cat lover & that might not change. He’s bathed, flea & worm treated, vaccinated and booked for sterilisation before moving to his new home.

UPDATE: Frank will need an experienced owner, no children and probably no pets (maybe another similar size dog) and people who will exercise and continue with his training. He has basic manners that he needs reminding of, works well and is motivated by treats and structure.

Meet Jack, who came to us recently to find his new home. Jack is a Jack Russell Terrier X, about 13 months old, he’s bathed, flea & worm treated, vaccinated & sterilised. Adoption fee is $500.00.

Jack is with an experienced foster carer who is putting some training into practice. He hasn’t been with us long, but so far our carer has reported that he’s house trained and enjoys his walks, seeing different things every day. When he gets excited he nips a bit, so some training is helping. Jack will be best suited to a home with adults or a family with older teenage/adult children. He’ll make a great pet, just needs to learn a couple of manners to be the best dog ever.

MEG is a small mixed breed puppy about 3 months old, weighing only 3.1kg. She’s bathed, flea & worm treated, vet checked, microchipped & had 1st vaccination to protect her from Parvovirus. The next vaccination will be at new owner’s cost. A voucher for compulsory sterilisation will be included in the adoption pack.

Puppies are a 15 year commitment, where the new owner needs to have time to train & look after the puppy. Meg has settled into foster care.
